Greetings, Fellow Creatives!
Meg with Studio 2 Makings here to welcome you to a freshly cozy December. Our “out of office” sign is officially put away from travels abroad, but I have some fun events and digital treats just for newsletter subscribers to share with you this month!
If you’re new here, don’t forget to subscribe to the Studio 2 Makings newsletter for mixed media arts resources, creative inspiration, and workshop event releases!
December Events
First things first, December Events. We have two mixed media arts classes incoming: Mixed Media Collage, and Intro to Gelliplate Printing!

Gel Printing 101: Holiday Card Workshop returns to class space at The ARTery on December 12th! Learn new gel printing techniques and use them to create a collage-style holiday card series!

Mixed Media Collage class will be held at Steam on Wheels, our local makerspace lab in downtown Rock Island on December 19th. If you haven’t gotten the chance to check out the space, this would be a great opportunity to do so! In addition to learning new mixed media collage skills and creating collaborative and individual art, you could peep the indoor hydroponic garden or 3d print room. Come check it out!
Keep your eyes peeled in January for events, as we have a free event coming up that you won’t want to miss!
Free Winter Nature Journal Starter Pack Launch
In an effort to stay inspired through the Winter Blues, we’ve just dropped our FREE Nature Journal Starter Pack! Each page has a mixed media art journal prompt, a winter ecology knowledge bite, and a guided writing reflection. But you can do what you want with it, we’re not trying to tell you what to do. We know winter can be hard on us. It’s important to find those glimmers to get you through. Available for download to use digitally, or as a printable build-your-own journal, this is our gift to the ether because, man we know Winter can be long.

Greetings from Vietnam: Free Postcard Download
As mentioned in our last newsletter, we were out of office completing creative research in Southeast Asia. In gathering primary resources in color palates, texture samples, and slice of life drawing references, we created a free printable digital travel postcard from one of our fine art photos as a little “thanks for being here!”. Your presence and support is so very much appreciated.

If you enjoyed your postcard, the full set is available in my shop for digital download.
Stay warm out there, find your glimmers, and we’ll see you in January.
Xo,
Meg
