About Meghan Hollister

I design experiences that make ecological science legible — through art, mixed media, and hands-on programming that connects people to the natural world in ways data alone can’t.

As founder of Studio 2 Makings, I’ve spent over a decade working at the intersection of environmental education, creative practice, and community engagement in the Quad Cities region. My work ranges from commissioned ecological illustration to grant-funded workshop series, interactive digital tools, and curriculum development for institutions across the greater Midwest.

One project that captures what this work looks like in practice: in 2026 I was commissioned by the National Wildlife Federation to create an illustrated ecological corridor map for the Quad Cities — grounded in ArcGIS data and IDNR endangered species records, and designed to make that scientific work legible and inspiring to community members, naturalists, and environmental professionals alike. I presented the project alongside scientists and city leaders at its public debut, and spoke about it on Quad City Arts’ Talking Art podcast on WVIK NPR.

Translating complex ecological information into something that moves people toward curiosity, connection, and action is where my practice is most alive.

I hold an M.Ed. from the University of Northern Colorado and a BFA from St. Ambrose University. I co-founded the Midwest’s first eco-arts gallery in 2012, serve on the Clean River Advisory Council, and partner regularly with institutions including Quad City Arts, The Putnam Museum, STEAM on Wheels, and the National Wildlife Federation. My programming lives at the place where ecology, art, and emerging technology meet.

If you’re building something at that intersection — a program, a commission, a curriculum, a conversation — I’d like to hear about it.
