Winter Creative Updates: Workshops and Events

Greetings Fellow Creatives! Meg with Studio 2 Makings here dropping a chilly late January line in an attempt to stay warm this winter. We’re almost through. Stay focused, we got this! We’ve got some news on events new and old, a fun creative collage challenge, and some behind the scenes studio projects to discuss in today’s newsletter. Thanks for being here! Let’s get into it:

Linocut Printmaking Workshop Recap

We had a wonderful time carving and creating prints in our last Linocut Printmaking class! The majority of participants were brand new to linocut printmaking techniques! We had many proud-arts-instructor moments in this session. Here’s a few snapshots:

Studio 2 Makings is currently booking for spring and summer. Contact us for private and group mixed media arts experiences to get on our calendar!

On Display @ The Artery

We have one of our mixed media collage pieces on display as part of The Artery’s Group Show Invitational “The Divine Feminine: Love & Rage” Open opening January 30th. If you have time to make it to the opening, swing through for Final Friday! Dress up or dress down, free snacks, great art. Here’s the mixed media piece that will be on display:

Februllage Incoming!

For those that may be new, Februllage is a daily collage prompt challenge that starts Feb 1. We are so excited!

A colorful prompt list for February 2026 titled 'Februllage', featuring daily themes from February 1st to 28th, with illustrations of flowers and scissors, and a cheerful yellow bird.

Februllage is a collaboration between Edinburgh Collage Collective and the Scandinavian Collage Museum. This initiative invites collage artists to make a ‘collage a day’ throughout February using our OFFICAL WORD PROMPT CALENDAR – 2026 – Februllage IG

As a mixed media artist, I love using this prompt to get the creativity flowing. The beautiful thing about Februllage is that there are no rules! Create for one prompt or many. Do what you want, no one is stopping you. Here’s an example of one of my favorite februllage collages from the past.

I’m excited to use februllage as a creative exercise in mini-collages artist trading cards. If you want to see the current trading cards I have available, check out my ACEO storefront.

Behind the Scenes: Personal Projects

Behind the scenes at Studio 2 Makings we’ve had the chance to get into some really cool personal projects, including getting back into mixed media animation! Here’s a peek of what we’ve been playing around with:

This was our first opportunity to test a new analog mixed media animation workflow. In this test, a video was turned printed frame by frame, hand edited, and then digitally stitched back together. I have fallen in love, and can feel a creative obsession incoming.

If you’re interested in Meg’s weird animation work of the past, check out this or this. Or this.

Mixed Media Class Teasers

We’re cooking up some cool classes for this spring, including playing with plant sound frequencies, Victorian tunnel books, data visualization through collage, printmaking (as always) and even some digital media play. Stay tuned for workshop and class drops becasue as always, newletter subscribers hear it first.

Thanks for being here! And stay warm out there.

Until Next time,

Meg
