Summer Check In: Events, Workshops, and Celebrations

Summer has kicked off hard in the studio! This is Meg, brain-woman behind Studio 2, and I wanted to come in with a check in that spreads a little bit of sunshine, celebrates some small successes, and perhaps a fun fact or two.

We’re Vending Now!

It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? And y’all, it has been so much fun. We kicked off our summer vending season with Radicle Effect’s May Community Market, followed up with our first Eclectic Market at Great River Brewing, and had a wonderful summer kickoff Rock Island Artists Market with Skeleton Key, with just enough time to escape the rain! It’s been an awesome experience meeting fellow creatives, sharing community and I thank you for the kind words and kick ass experiences. If you have purchased a piece, tag Studio 2 on your platform of choice so I can see your artwork in its new home!

If you can’t make an incoming event, hop on over to the online shop, as it’s always open!

We just added a run of botanical linocut prints on vintage illustrated dictionary pages:

Minor Hype: Mixed Media Arts Workshops Incoming

Did you notice that TBA event on this summer’s lineup? Internally, it’s major hype for me, but I digress. Mixed Media Workshops are coming to a local Quad Cities small biz venue near you this summer!

I don’t want to say too much without it’s own dedicated post…but…this will be a series of Mixed Media workshops aptly titled, Mixed Media With Meg!

The first workshop will feature collage, but this isn’t your average collage class. Leave with multiple pieces, learn and immediately practice technique, make at least one collaborative artwork whilst making friends, there may (i.e. there will) even be a scavenger hunt. The second class will feature seasonal botanical printmaking, a dream class that I have been wanting to put on for some time. Come and Make! <3

Better Than A Boyfriend?

You can stay tuned on all of the Studio 2 happenings on Facebook and Instagram, (and perhaps tiktok for a bit of unhinged madness) but the first update will always be here, my little labor of love blog. You can subscribe below and I promise I won’t blow you up. Oh, and that reminds me:

Fun Fact: Studio 2 is back on Instagram.

I’m not sure how I feel about it. Love the arts inspiration, but miss the old Instagram. Ce la vie. But, you can make me feel better about aging myself by following me @ studio2makings.

We Giggin’

As the creative schedule unfolds, I’ve picked up gigs helping with Social Media for a local Clean River nonprofit, Summer education outreach at The Putnam, and am part of a mural crew! Our most recent finished project was for local artist Heidi Sallows’ design at cafe San Lorenzo:

Looking for the right project girl or private experience? I offer workshops, commissioned art, and a plethora of other creative services on my Services Page. Reach out with booking inquiries as summer is filling up fast! This time of year is great for Fall and Winter booking.

Celebrations: We Exhibited in Seattle!

Heck yeah, part of my heart lives in the Pacific Northwest. Recently we had two pieces featured as part of Monochrome Fever, an exhibition curated by Special Agent Collage Collective at Slip Gallery, in Seattle Washington.

These pieces focused on the concept of migration, and featured the colors orange and purple. You can take a peek at the making process in some of my prior posts, or on Youtube. Collage-O-Rama week just wrapped up, but you can get involved with the collective year round by checking out their website. You do not have to have collage experience in order to make for the collective! Give it a try, it’s super fun.

Subscribe to the Studio 2 newsletter to stay in the know with pop ups, workshops, and happenins’. See you soon! xoxo Cheers -Meg
