Title: Barber’s Creek
This is a place I used to go and play as a kid, growing up with other fellow bored kids in a small town. It evolved from a play place, to a place to get in trouble *laughs*. And from a place to get in trouble, to a place of nostalgia. I still go back there sometimes when I go visit my mom…
This is painted from memory, but based on a real place. I paint landscapes because they hold a feeling of the mystic, fantasy, transcendence, an imagination gone wild…of what could happen in a secret place…I try to capture that feeling with these paintings.
There is a certain kind of imagination that comes from being surrounded by nature. To this day there are things in nature that we cannot fully understand (glow worms, anyone?) I spent a lot of my free time as a small child playing in the woods, and being alone in the forest. I also spent a lot of time reading wild stories about fairies, goblins, and weird sci-fi things 😀 So I think that that comes into play as well.
