We had the pleasure of facilitating our first environmental arts workshop centered in data visualization using mixed media art last weekend at the beautiful Riverside Gardens in Moline, IL.
This has been a creative vision I’ve been wanting to bring to life for some time, and to see such a wonderfully engaged and diverse participant crowd was a treat to behold.

In this hands-on workshop, we took ecological data from the Quad Cities Flood Protection Corridor, the QC Climate Assessment in printed map layers, illustrated maps from my NWF project prior, lovingly pressed prairie plants, and exploratory printmaking techniques, participants found their own place inside the data: the spot where they grew up, a species they recognize, a memory revisited in exploring a personal connection to place.
