Adventures in 3D Modelling: Low Poly Unicorn

For my 9 to 5, I teach Game Design. While I don’t focus on game design specifically, I do get the opportunity to practice and hone my 3d modelling, motion graphic, and digital art skills.

This graphic was created in Blender, through a few tutorials, primarily this one.

This was a spapshot from one of my very first forays into low poly style 3d modelling. I can already see mistakes that I’ve learned from (I’m looking at you, shadows), but I wanted to share my learning process along the way.

I love Imphenzia’s tutorials because they’re easily digestible and accessible. They’re also short, and with 3d modelling tutorials usually taking me about 10x the time to complete, this is key. Check out their channel if you’re interested in learning 3d modelling!

Blender is a huge, open source program. I’ve been working with it in earnest for the past year, and still don’t even feel like I’ve scratched the surface.

Follow me on Youtube to check out my first forays in animation and video! Enjoy 🙂
